Our unexpected New Year's Gift

Image
On 2nd Jan 2024, a fine sunny morning, after the busy New Years day, we started this day a tad bit slow. Having our breakfast and chitter-chatting per usual, I saw my brother jumping out from his seat in excitment. He ran towards the aquarium, pointing at something. I and mom ran too to see what he was pointing at.  We had Guppies and Mollies in the aquarium. But there was a TINIEST fish we ever saw. It was a baby fish! We couldn't contain our excitment. My brother immediately ran to get a large spoon to take out the baby fish and he safely put it in a bowl. After a moment, we spotted another baby fish but then the scene was different. The older fishes were trying to get/ eat the baby fish and this tiny fish was trying to hide and save itself. We were shocked and surprised to see this behaviour in real life. My brother and mom tried to get him immediately into the separate bowl.    Then our slow day had turned into a super-hyper day, trying to spot any other baby fishes in the hidi

Chocolate Lava Cake

Today I thought to prepare something with Chocolate... well, who doesn't like chocolate!! Hardly any:) Though am not a fan of chocolate, still wanted to try :) Here's how to make your very own Lava cake: Pre-heat the oven to 180°C. Firstly, we need to melt the chocolate (any plain chocolate chips) and butter together without any lumps. So there are two ways of melting. Either through Microwave Oven or Double boiling. Once melted, set aside to cool. In another bowl, add eggs and powdered sugar and beat well.  Add maida, essence to the above and beat again. Later add choco-butter mix and beat well. Grease the mould with butter and coat it with maida (just to prevent it from sticking) and dust the extra maida from the mould. Pour the mixture into the moulds and bake for 10 mins at 190 °C.   While serving, you can add powdered sugar on top and some cherries. Chocolate Lava cake is ready!! :):) I was so thrilled to watch chocolate ooz ing when I c ut it into half

Today, I wanted to prepare something special for my hubby.. something which I had not done before. Hence thought of baking a cake... Carrot Cake!! :) Its a simple cake but tasted yumm..  To start with I pre-heated the oven to 180°C.  Sieved maida and baking powder together. Add grated carrot and dry fruits to maida and mix well. In a bowl, add powdered sugar and butter and beat well. Then add eggs and essence and beat again. Now add maida-carrot mix to the above. Add milk or water to the same for spoon dropping consistency (I prefer milk). Once the mixture is done( without any lumps), pour into a greased (apply butter) cake mould and bake for 30 mins at 180°C. Carrot Cake is ready to eat!!!! When I prepared again, I added dry fruits on top after pouring the mixture to the mould! If anybody wants to try this, below you can find the ingredients along with the measurement: Maida/ All-purpose flour - 80gm Powdered Sugar - 75gm Butter - 75gm Egg
